System Recordings continues wither their Chill series of compilations with the newest. "Chill For A Summer Evening". There are some great tracks on here for sure and I am glad they picked my track Peacock Flounder to be among them. The release also made it onto the banner ads for Beatport’s Chill Out section and that isn’t a bad thing at all. Available at most online retailers and only 5.99 on iTunes. You can’t beat that.

What old is new again. Looq Records is re-releasing some of my older Reef Project material on 2 EPs. The first one called “Shallow Waters” is due to come out on May 10th, 2010.  It includes 3 tracks from my second album Deep End (which has long been out of print), which includes, “Deep End”, “True Clown” and “Snapper”. The 4th track is called “Pacific Flying” was originally put on a EP on the short lived Biohazard Digital label. All the tracks have been remastered and pumped up a bit. Below you can check out the “Pacific Flying” track. I can’t believe I wrote it over 8 years ago. I hope you enjoy.

Reef Project – Music To Watch Fish By by Thee-O

I love Ambient Music. I listen to it every night when going to bed. It relaxes me. It soothes my soul. When I first started producing music, one of my main goals was to produce Ambient and Downtempo music. I decided to go under the guise of Reef Project because I also have a fascination with aquariums and coral reefs. I have produced 3 albums of music under the name Reef Project (you can find the 2008 release “Hydro Dynamic” by clicking here). I also have done one mix under this name (I did several ambient mixtapes under Thee-O that I will post here later) as well. The mix came out on CD and only 200 were made. “Music To Watch Fish By” is that mix. It includes some of my own music as well as some amazing tracks by some amazing artists. Hello there,

My name is Jacob Ofilas. I DJ under the name Thee-O. You can find out more about that on my other site Thee-O.com. This site is dedicated to my downtempo, ambient and chill out alter ego, Reef Project.

Reef Project came about before I even set up my first studio. It was about 10 years ago when I first started buying gear when I had this notion to merge two of my passions together, aquariums and chilled out music. I have been a fan of ambient and downtempo for a long time and I was also a avid aquarium owner. I had this beautiful reef tank set up in my living room and I could just stare at it for hours, relaxing while listening to some music. My first goal in the studio was to start writing music with that feeling and that is what I did. My first Reef Project release came out in 2001 and is called “Star”. The second release was called “Deep End” and came out a year later. Both of these were very limited and only 1000 of each release came out on CD. I started doing a few digital releases that led up to 2008’s “Hydro Dynamic” that came out on System Recordings.

I am currently in the studio working on a new album as I type this. The new album is called “Adrift” and is also going to be released on System this year. There will also be two EP’s of older Reef Project tracks being re-released on Looq Records this year as well.  There are also a few Reef Project remix projects I am working on as well.

Also as a way to give back, a percentage of any profits that I make from Reef Project go back to organizations that help to maintain the natural reefs in our oceans. The reefs are some of the oldest living organisms on the planet and need to be protected.
